Rose McGowan is facing more legal troubles after her arrest in November.

The actress was indicted by a grand jury on Monday for possession of a controlled substance, according to online court records in Loudoun County, Virginia.

McGowan’s attorney, Jose Baez tells PEOPLE, “Rose steadfastly maintains her innocence. These charges would have never been brought if it weren’t for her activism as a voice for women everywhere.”

“I assure you,” he continued. “This selective prosecution will be met with a strong defense.”

The former Charmed actress was arrested in November in relation to a warrant for felony possession of a controlled substance involving cocaine.

McGowan turned herself into the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office at the time, where she was arrested and booked before being released on a $5,000 bail.

The maximum sentence for the charge is 10 years in prison, according to WTOP.

The warrant, obtained by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department, was issued on Feb. 1, 2017, according to the Associated Press.

As if the situation between Rose McGowan and Harvey Weinstein couldn’t get any more awful, we have this really awful news. The Hollywood Reporter says that Rose’s former manager (and later, former employee of Miramax) Jill Messick was found dead on Wednesday after taking her own life at the age of 50. According to a pretty heavy statement from her family, it sounds like they believe her death was related to Rose’s fight against Harvey.

Actress Rose McGowan helped kick off the #MeToo movement when she went on the record as one of the sources for the New York Times and New Yorker’s stories about disgraced studio head Harvey Weinstein’s decades-long history of sexual predation – she even foreshadowed the movement in a series of tweets sent in October 2016 insinuating that she had been assaulted by a powerful Hollywood executive.

Harvey Weinstein reportedly hired journalists and highly trained ex-spies and military personnel who used fake identities to try to stop accusers from going public with sexual misconduct claims against him.

In a shocking revelation made via Twitter, actress Rose McGowan accused Amazon CEO and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos of covering up her rape.
